Paul is a Director and co-founder of bdhSterling. Paul started in the Financial Services industry in 1991 with Norwich Union. Paul moved to Standard Life in 1996, initially in a sales support role before being promoted to the Pensions Technical area in 2000. Here, he advised and trained IFA’s throughout the UK regarding many of the complex aspects of the UK’s pension legislation.
In October 2004, Paul became a licensed IFA himself for a small firm specialising in pension transfer advice. In June 2009, Paul co-founded bdhSterling (formerly Global QROPS Ltd), with Simon Harvey, to continue to provide a high standard of international planning solutions to clients, including QROPS and QNUPS. In February 2006, prior to the major changes that were coming into effect regarding UK pensions, Paul was invited by HMRC’s Overseas Pension Scheme Services, to provide insights as to how the new QROPS legislation would affect people transferring pensions overseas. In September 2016 Paul was consulted by the FCA’s technical specialists to help improve their understanding regarding QROPS advice in the marketplace.
Paul has the UK’s Advanced Financial Planning Certificate, including the G60 Advanced Pension Exam and, as a recognised expert in overseas pensions, has written articles and been quoted in both the financial and migration press on the subject.
